I’ve Moved!

Hi all – I’ve decided to move my blog off of IT Toolbox and on to WordPress.  IT Toolbox is a great technical forum, but their blogging capabilities are severely limited – namely now I can do screenshots!

I’m going to begin by moving my old posts over, and perhaps even enhance them a little bit.  The topic’s I’ve written about in the past weren’t how-to guides and I feel most of them are precisely as relevant now as they were when I wrote them.

I think the rest of the OBI blogging world has a pretty good handle on tip’s & tricks and even rarely used configuration steps.  This blog covers big picture issues as it related to OBIEE (Siebel Analytics), Data Warehousing and BI in general. The goal here is not to describe how to configure OBIEE correctly to meet your project’s specific needs, but rather making sure you are undertaking the right projects to begin with and doing them in an efficient manner. In doing so, I will discuss what great BI is, and how you can use OBI can be used to deliver great BI.

From time to time I will cover some specific Analytics specific solutions covering the RPD, Data Modeling, and Dashboard design.  Yeah, I may do some specific how-to’s here and there as I encounter interesting situations.

For those of you who’ve read my old stuff, I hope you find the new environment more appealing.   For newcomers, take a read through some of the old posts to get my big picture perspective on BI.
